Smoke Detectors; Senate Bill 1394 and 745; As of July 1st, 2015; California State requires that if a Battery type Smoke Detector is Installed it must now be the 10 year Lithium battery type. The Bill basically spells out that in California, Manufactires may only sell smoke detectors with "A non removable battery capible of powering the unit for 10 years"
